We just finished the 2nd annual workshop series on career development by the Staten Island Career Coaches (SICC).

You can click here or the title to find out how students at McKee are learning real world transferable skills to reach their post-secondary goals and opportunities.

By the way, the SICC was founded in 2009. Its mission is to help students as they prepare for entry into the workforce. Full biographies of its members are available at the SI Career Coaches website. For more information about the program or to schedule an interview, contact Valarie Contrino at 718-761-4846 or email

Students as Role Models: A Principal Speaks

Click here for the newsletter from "Legal Momentum". A program coordinator within the organization of Legal Momentum is Brigitte Watson, who has diligently worked with McKee High School to promote young ladies exploring and discovering careers in non-traditional fields such as in construction and technology.

The first page features a McKee student. The second page is the actual article that I wrote, and that was brilliantly edited by Ms. Watson.

What is our goal at McKee? To empower all students to acquire, reinforce and turnkey knowledge to a wide range of audiences, from youngsters to adults.

AVID at McKee

I received a DVD from one of the students but I really did not have time to absorb what I was seeing, as I was multi-tasking, answering a phone, and typing an email in another window. It's Open Parent's Night and I finally get a chance between the end of school and the beginning of the event to actually focus on the video that was recently completed by a student.
Click here to check out this video created by the newly started member of McKee's Video/Film Club, Amir Ali. I think his brother even helped out.

All I can say is what a delightful surprise. I look forward to seeing more of a student's eye's view of various programs in our school. By the way, the Video/Film Club is overseen by Mr. Gordon and Ms. Kenavan.

McKee in March eChalk bulletin

Click here to see McKee High School's website mentioned in the March bulletin of eChalk.
This is so cool. I must give a big "shout out" to the McKee faculty who add to their respective class pages. I particularly want to commend Ms. Judy Ligus, one of our primary site managers.
