Kaelin was involved in an intensive four week internship experience which focused on leadership development. The emphasis was on students learning about the policy making process in city government.
Kaelin was part of a group of 49 students that were selected to be part of the Model NYC Council. The students were screened from a pool of participants who take College Now courses at their respective high schools. McKee High School has College Now courses with both Kingsborough Community College and College of Staten Island.
This internship was spearheaded by Anthony J. Maniscalco, Director of the Edward T. Rogowsky Internship Program. This organization is a collaboration between BMCC and CUNY, generates opportunities for students in the secondary and post-secondary level to learn about public service by linking academic training to simulating real world procedures and actions within local government.
