6 McKee students, presented their layout and design of a playground section for a portion of land at Historic Richmondtown on Thursday, June 23, 2016, before Borough President James Oddo, Deputy Bor. Pres. Ed. Burke, a team from Staten Island Tech, and business representatives from Historic Richmondtown.
Color me so proud of my students for engaging in such a creative project, with real world application.
Before the presentation, Mr. Pane shared with me that his father worked on the Verrazano Bridge. The father was a crane operator who worked at the very top of the bridge.
I am so grateful to both Borough President Oddo and Deputy Borough President Burke for extending an invitation to both Staten Island Tech and to McKee High School Engineering students to be involved in generating a proposal based upon an area of Staten Island, that is under consideration to have a playground constructed at a future point in a portion of Historic Richmondtown.
