National Technical Honor Society Induction Ceremony

The induction ceremony into National Technical Honor Society at McKee High School occurred on Thursday, June 1, 2017.  The keynote address was delivered by a graduate, Class of 2011, Tyreek Penn, RN.

He is a 2016 graduate from Adelphi University in nursing.  He passed his state boards and is a fully licensed registered nurse.  What better way to showcase that all professions are possible and to hear from someone at the start of a career than a recent graduate.

Tyreek's speech was touching, and filled with words of advice to the inductees who plan to go to college: "Aim to become a resident adviser.  It is free room and board and will save you from heavy financial burdens from loans in the end." A part that had the "people of a certain age" such as myself laughing in disbelief was when Tyreek looked out into the faces of the inductees and said, "I feel so old."  Hah!
